There is no doubt that Australia is the best place to shoot, and to assist with the production Australian Government provides following incentives for productions:
Federal Incentives
16.5%* Location Offset
Rebate of 16.5% Qualifying Australian Production Expenditure (QAPE). Applies to feature films, telemovies and television mini-series or series. Productions must have a minimum spend of A$15m of QAPE.
30%* Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Offset
Rebate of 30% qualifying post, digital and visual effects production (PDV) expenditure. Applies to feature films, telemovies or television mini-series or series. The production must have a total PDV related QAPE of at least A$500,000. The production does not need to be filmed in Australia.
40% Producer Offset (feature films)
A tax-based incentive that provides a 40% rebate of QAPE. Applies to official co-production feature films or features that have Significant Australian Content (SAC). Films must have a minimum production spend of A$500,000.
20% Producer Offset (non-feature films)
A tax-based incentive that provides a 20% rebate of QAPE. Significant Australian Content (SAC) is required. Applies to TV, documentary or other formats.
